First Look: WordPress
It seems like only yesterday that I was posting about the soon to be released WordPress app for the iPhone. Ah, right, it was only yesterday. A lot can happen when I'm sleeping, it would appear, because sometime last night the WordPress app went live on the App Store.This free app, which works with WordPress.com blogs as well as any self hosted sites running version 2.5.1 or higher, let's you post to your blog easily. As you can see in our gallery, the application is straightforward and pretty easy to use.
At the moment this app is all about posting to your WordPress blog, not managing it. You won't be able to access comments from this app, nor can you add users, activate plugins, or anything along those lines.
That being said, this is a must have app for all you iPhone toting WordPress bloggers out there.

This is what I was waiting for, if only it weren't buggy.
I've run a photo moblog, using a cludgy MMS to email plugin method of posting, which I would later log in and clean up. Now I can make posts and include photos very easily.
However my other blog isn't working for some reason. The WP app just shows the data refresh wheel spinning to the right continuously, and never stops or lets me access it. Sometimes it eventually crashes.
Both blogs are running 2.6.
Hopefully they can soon fix bugs, and add some comment tools.

I'm entering my blog url (self-hosted), username and password, but after my iPod touch processes for a while, the WordPress app quits back to the home screen.

i like this, glad it was released, its a bit buggy atm, but works.
has anyone ever tried this plug in for WordPress?

it allows iPhone/Touch users to access the admin panel form their device. It allows you to edit comments etc too..
together they could be very productive

I've used that one up until I upgraded to 2.5 and it stopped working. Actually, I REALLY like WPhone (http://wphoneplugin.org/), which does the same thing but looks better and runs a helluva lot faster. Then there's the reading theme, IWPhone (http://iwphone.contentrobot.com/), which formats your blog's content for iPhone/iPod Touch users.

I quite like the new WP app, but it is a little buggy. When I write a new post, and tap into "categories" and then go back to the post almost everything has disappeared from the top and bottom bars. Anyone else having this problem too?

I have noticed it quitting without warning every now and then...
I also noticed that it will overwrite posts if you say create one on it, then edit them on your Mac without it knowing, then perhaps edit the post again on the iPhone. It uses its own database instead of your live Wordpress one so you must remember to hit the refresh button before editing.

Slightly off topic, has anyone found a way to introduce spacers / blank icons in v2.0? I added WordPress, but wanted it separated from the rest of my icons. I figure it would be pretty easy, possible that Apple would even let it in the App store?

Managing Wordpress with my iPhone is more important to me than writing posts with it, but I suppose this was the low hanging fruit. Hopefully there will be some management tools to handle the comments and other aspects of running a blog.

Have you tried installing WPhone (http://wphoneplugin.org/) on your WordPress? Web admin works like a charm from MobileSafari, including managing comments, pages, etc. A pretty well rounded feature set.

The app is working great for me. Only thing I don't like it when I go back to edit my post its all in HTML ugliness. Other than that its a great app.

Nice, agree with previous comments, its a little buggy. Save button disappeared on me first time I tried to post. Don't see a way to approve comments. iPhone needs spell check to make this practical.

How about writing about how Apple is taking FOREVER to approve updates to apps, like NetNewsWire! Brent is already up to version 1.0.7 and Apple has yet to approve the 1.0.2 update! Seems like you have some "power" with your posts. :)

Ontopic... does anyone know of a .APP that I can use from my laptop to simply publish to my WordPress blog? I custom a ton of app staff for my LAMP solution, but I'm looking for a Wordpress.app that allows me to push straight from my laptop vs. logging into my website, so I can write offline. Sorry .. I know it's kind of newb for an old-school like me, but been a novice until now.
