MacMix Promo to bring super deals for your Mac app fix
Applications on the Mac give you this warm, fuzzy feeling when you download and unpack their .dmg (or .zip) files. "Make Your Own Mac Mix" hopes to make this feeling even better by offering deals in the form of discount tiers for buying Mac applications. You will be able to choose between 27 "high quality" Mac applications (similar to those being offered by MacHeist). Prices will be based on the following tier system:
- 10% off of any one app
- 30% off any 3
- 40% off any 5
- 50% off any 7
- 60% off any 9
- 70% off any 12

MacMix seems very anonymous so far. I sincerely hope it's not Mark Howson / TheMacPak / NameNetwork or whatever that little scammer is now calling his operation.

Here's a shocker: the guy running the main competition to the MacMix deal "doesn't have much hope for it".
Forum threads are often just tempests in a tea cup, and that thread is proof of that phenomena occurring at a slightly higher language level than most folks are used to ;)

Bah. I'm sick of this kind of nonsense. I'm just buying my apps directly from the authors from now on (just like I USED to before MacZot and MacHeist) and cutting out the middleman. I might wind up paying more for software, but I'll feel better knowing I directly supported someone for his or her work.

I like this idea. For MH2 I ended up giving away the apps I didn't use, which was nice, but I'd rather pay a little less and get just what I wanted in the first place.

Be wary of a few things here:
1) The person who posted on the MacHeist forum innocently asking "hey, anyone heard of this Mac Mix thing?" posted from the same IP address that the Mac Mix web site is hosted at.
2) The person posted under another account on the MacHeist forum, refusing to identify himself in any way.
3) It was pointed out that this person running the Mac Mix promo was coming from a proxy IP. He denied it, saying he was posting from the library, but he was caught in a lie--turns out he was using hidemyass.com to anonymize his IP.
This is very fishy. I'd recommend everyone be careful of this one.

I saw this on the billboard of an off-strip Vegas motel once, and the description above reminded me of it. (no details, but the creators are claiming this will be an amazing deal...)

I'm kinda disappointed, TUAW. This (supposedly shady) deal is almost identical to a well-respected promotion called give good food to your mac that just wrapped up it's second run. And yet, I don't remember seeing anything being posted about that promotion, despite me sending it in.
I'm glad you're at least posting this stuff. I'm also glad to the community for making everyone aware of the shady aspects to this deal. Still, let's keep everything well-rounded.

Well I really hope this one will be great... but we are almost 1/3 into July and now news about it....
