I'm curious as to what devices they're plugging in there. I get the point of the video but after a while, the exaggeration detracts from their message. Seems more anti-Air than pro-X300 to me.

Took me by surprise there :P I was half expecting it to cut to some 12 year old's bedroom from the point of view of a dodgy cell phone.

That was well done, I must say.

However, it highlights how mistaken people are for what the Macbook Air actually is.

MBA is clearly thinner and smaller looking than X300.

Not everyone needs optical disk drive and multiple USB ports all the time. But many carry notebook almost everywhere they go (e.g., college students, sales).

Yeh, Lenovo, we know Apple hardware sucks, but we're willing to put up with lousy hardware because the alternative is putting up with lousy software. They're not called "Wintendos" for nothing.

Oh well.

At least the Macbook Air doesn't cost half as much again as comparable Wintel boxes, the way most Macs do... tell you what, you cut a deal with Apple to sell Thinkpads with a shiny shell and I'll pay half as much again for a Thinkpad running OS X... just make sure you get me one with a real GPU instead of the Intel junk.

Well, one of the key points of the MacBook Air is that some or most of your devices (CD/DVD ROM's, Backup Devices, etc.) are located elsewhere, wirelessly. (My personal take on what Air is all about.)

But, the spoof is entertaining, non-the-less.

I've been a Mac fan since I first saw an iMac, but I'd still buy a Lenovo X300 over the MBA any day of any week. Comparing the MBA with the X300 gives $2798 for the MBA versus $3330 for the X300 - you're paying the extra ~$500 for the built-in DVD burner and the extra connectivity. It's a steep premium, but it's not steeper than the premium you pay (~$1800) for an MBA over a MacBook or other regular notebook. You pay for what you want when you're going for something that's so niche. I admit that the X300 is running a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo as opposed to the 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo in the MBA I'm suggesting, but if I was after an ultraportable I'd rather have a DVD burner than a fast processor any day.

Yes, it's running Windows, but Windows is a perfectly usable OS - it's not as good as OS 10.5, IMHO, but I'd be willing to make that sacrifice in exchange for the phenomenal piece of hardware it's running on. You can always install Ubuntu/other Linux if you're that bothered.

I am a MacBook Air user and yes there is one USB port big deal I only use the Add on Optical drive when I need it. And the Time Machine for Back up but turn it off when I need to install a Program. Printer I use the network Printer and I just use the display the come with the Air. The MBA is faster than the Lenovo. And to tell you the truth most of the time I do not even miss the optical drive I do not watch movies on the Air. I use it for what is meant to a light weight lap top and easy to carry with you.

I think not. Not very aesthetic when you look at Air + all the peripherals which I think was the point.

But I do understand that everyone might not have a need for an optical drive or more USB ports.

As a Macbook Pro owner, I still think that the X300 is kinda cool though considering how much they've been able to put in there, but because of those extras, the price isn't that cool :)

IMO I really do need an optical drive (most of my backups are in DVDs + it's a disposable universal "let me leave you a copy right now" solution). A need for more USB ports kicks in when I need to work on external disks as storage is limited. Then again, if I needed something that permits me to simply surf + read mails and maybe do some word processing I'd make a total U turn and go for an EEE pc. Used it this weekend and I must say I'm totally impressed by it and it justifies every penny while MBA and X300 are too steep (for my needs).
