Uhhh, ok. I've been using the GrowlMail that comes with Growl from growl.info with Leopard for over a month, it works fine. So what's this for then?

Apparently it notifies RSS feeds now.

It was working for me for a month, too. And then it was killing Mail on launch over and over again. I uninstalled GrowlMail and suddenly Mail works again.

Weird... I hadn't heard of GrowlMail until after I bought my new iMac and upgraded to Leopard. It's working fine for me....

For me, GrowlMail was crashing Leopard Mail if I had too many new messages at the same time.
It worked OK if it only had to tell me about a few new messages.

How do I get this to work after install?

I installed this but it did not present in Mail Preferences. I removed the bundle still same issue. The with terminal commands the issue was resolved:
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail EnableBundles -bool YES
defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion -int 3

That first command is wrong. Leave out the “/Library/Preferences” part, or it won't work.
Chris Barr said 10:13PM on 12-20-2007
Well it never worked in Leopard for me, and this fixed it - so I'm happy!

still doesn't work for me... grrr. Uninstalled Growl, resintalled ver 1.1.2. Ran recommended Terminal commands... restarted everything... no luck.

After installing the old version in leopard, it crashed mail all the time. Good to see they've finally done something about it.

Yeah, I did too, right along with Hey Folders!, but the Bronson Beta site hasn't been updated in forever, and no replies to emails.... I think we're out of luck....

Mail Preferences are a little weird you may have to resize the window to see GrowlMail. The reason I say weird is, because if you click on the General Tab you cannot resize the Mail Preferences Pane but you can click on the Accounts tab to resize the Mail Preferences Pane Here is a screen shot of what GrowlMail looks like: http://aholeintheroad.googlepages.com/growlMail.png

Or you can just use the >> button on the tab bar...
I think when Apple created Mail prefpane, they weren't thinking in plugins...

When I first installed leopard it GrowlMail worked on IMAP email but not POP. So I reworked my addresses. Then it didn't work at all. This fixed it. Getting updates on all the RSS feeds may become tiresome after a while, but I'm glad to have my regular growlmail back. Thanks!

It's too bad you can't select which accounts it notifies on. The option is there in Mail preferences, but the checkboxes won't uncheck....at least for me.

From the comments at Hawkwings...
'It would have been polite to have asked us if it was ok to post this to a broader audience than just the google group. This build has problems, unfortunately posting this means that we may end up with more support requests for it than we had intended.' -Chris Forsythe
...yet TUAW still posts this story.

Chris hadn't commented yet (or it wasn't visible yet) when TUAW ran the story. I know it wasn't on the page when I went to the Hawk Wings story earlier this morning, and I got there from here.
For that matter, I think he found out about it from me, as it only showed up there after I emailed our (Growl's) discussion list with the links to both stories.

Well I did not see that comment at Hawk Wings. However, it seems like it needs to be the other way round. Had the original post said "please don't share this" etc. I wouldn't have posted on it. Lots of people like to get in on hacks, etc. so it certainly seemed like fair game for our audience of Mac enthusiasts.
