Always provocative, sometimes right, often wrong, Think Secret was our scandalous favorite rumors site and now it is gone. According to the Settlement page listed at their site, Apple and Think Secret have ended their lawsuit and Nick Ciarelli has shut down the site.
Goodbye Think Secret, we'll miss you.

I hope AppleInsider and Macrumors are next! It's time to shed this slim from the Mac community. They really serve no purpose other than drumming up rumors to line their coffers with advertising money. New MaBook coming? New iMac? New iPod? Mac mini EOL? 3G iPhone coming? Yada...yada...yada. Enough already! You don't know iCrap!

Look now, no one is forcing you to read 'em. I like to glance at them every now and then, if just for a good laugh. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they should be shut down.
That's like saying "THERE SHOULD BE NO PR0N ON TEH INTERWEBS!" Some people like it, some don't, but it takes all kinds of people to make this world.
(That was a really bad analogy. Oops :P)

The reason ThinkSecret was sued was because not only did they received stolen property or misappropriated information, they published it online.

I have not been reading this blog (regularly) for very long, but this is the second time I've seen you take a "cheap shot" as Doug said. (video recording hack for iphone also - that actually didn't surprise me because i had heard that you had written off the possibility before because you couldn't do it). QUIT HATIN'.

It causes more harm then good when the rumor sites are wrong. It undoubtedly has cost over the years millions in dollars in stock flucuation.
I don't blame Apple, it's a thorn in your side when some cretin that works for you divulges information because they are people of little character.
Put in perspective and taking the pros and cons into consideration I say good ridance to bad garbarge.

I am a Lawyer. I am also a big Apple fan (since '84!...), and a professor.
I deeply regret this agreement (as very far as we know it's terms) for it produces the strong feeling of killed liberty, no matter how polite Mr. dePlume has to state it. I understand him, anyhow, for individual survival sometimes requires a community sacrifice. Even so, such understanding of him does not take away the deep sorrow ... which, pirates as we deeply are, makes us encourage that new site ...

sounds like apple's problem is not an external problem, but an internal one. Unless Ciarelli works in Cupertino, Apple should find employees who can seriously keep their word on not divulging "secret" info. I dig the suspense of apple not giving word of new products, keeps the fanboys excited about a potential new anything..but on the other hand, those kind of sites save a lot of people (like me) from buying apple products a bit too early.. which i suppose is the problem here
