You probably know how fast you can blaze up a regular keyboard, and maybe you've even taken a typing test on a more traditional mobile keyboard found on Windows Mobile or BlackBerry handsets - but how fast are you on your iPhone's virtual keyboard? iPhoneTypingTest.com ought to help you answer that question, as it does just what its name suggests: the site (which recommends you use it in landscape mode for optimum visual layout) presents a text entry box that, once tapped on, will allow you to re-type the text that appears above the box in an effort to test your iPhone typing speed. It's a simple system that seems to work well; on my first try in portrait mode (I personally find the landscape keyboard too wide to work with) I scored 21 wpm with "some error(s)," and second try I nabbed 31.

I'm faster with two thumbs than a finger (in the 30's compared to 20's with zero errors). I also did it in portrait mode. I've gotten so used to it and never use landscape mode even though the keyboard is bigger.

Here are my scores after doing this the other day. I was a power BlackBerry user, and have had smartphones or other devices with thumb keyboards (ie the old beepers with QWERTY keyboards) for years now.
My iPhone WPM counts: 40, 58, 51, 38, 61, 46, 50, 40, 38, 56, 45.
All done in portrait mode.

It doesn't work in Firefox, but it works on my Nokia E62 (which reports its user agent as AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)
My speeds were about 30.

I prefer typing in portrait mode. Since most apps use a vertical keyboard I have gotten used to the key spacing.
I averaged in the 30's.

I'm faster at typing with my index finger than with both thumbs. Everyone tells me it will be faster if I use both thumbs, but in reality I don't truly care. I am still in the "honeymoon" stage with my iPhone where everything is fantastic! :)

To all Apple enthusiasts from another Apple enthusiast: Please stop responding to forum trolls. They only come here to egg you on and know damn well how to get under your skin. Just let it go.
We come here because we enjoy it, don't let some douche ruin your good time with their weak ideas and thoughts.
And when you're really feeling heated by iPod/iPhone haters, just try and remind yourself of their own hypocrisy. They hate something that has acceptance of the masses yet they use Windows, the absolute number one product on the planet accepted by the masses.

i got 33wpm landscape and 30wpm portrait with my thumbs and 24wpm landscape and 21wpm portrait with one finger.
